According to Eurostat statistics, Croatia is in first place in the EU when it comes to the number of overnight stays at private accommodation with 41.4% of all tourists selecting that form of accommodation. As a result Croatia finds itself near the bottom of the list when it comes to the number of tourists staying in hotels. Out of 64.4 million overnight stays, 32.7% were from hotel stays, which is one of the lowest EU averages. In Cyprus 99.8% of overnight stays were created at hotels, whilst in Malta it was 97.2% and in Spain 73.5%.
Camping was the third most popular accommodation in Croatia – making up 25.8% of the total overnight stays.
