Interesting article from author Alexis Rose about the trip from Germany to Montenegro… From the arrival to Dubrovnik airport and all the way through the border to sunny Herceg Novi.
If you intend to visit this beautiful small country this article worth to read…
We’re here!!! After a couple of unexpectedly chilly weeks in Bad Urach, Germany, we packed our bags and made our way to sunny Herceg Novi, Montenegro!
Yesterday, we caught the two hour flight from Stuttgart, Germany to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Then we arranged for a private transfer service to drive us the 45 minutes across the border to Herceg Novi — the best deal we found was 50 euros total, including tip. The driver actually was really funny because when we approached the Croatian-Montenegrin border, he pulled over at a little market and quickly explained, “I have to get juice for the police. They like juice.” Okaaaaay, haha. And when he gave it to the immigration officers, they loved it! They were laughing and joking and they stamped our passports without even flipping through the pages. He really knew how to play it.
(Side note: the Croatian immigration office at the border had the most amazing panoramic view of both countries! Not a bad place to work.)
We were semi-nervous about getting to our Airbnb apartment because the listing online didn’t have a single review yet and only had a few pictures. We’d already been burned once with Montenegro housing, so we were just hoping this place would work out.
