LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), March 31 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists in Slovenia rose by an annual 14.5% in the first two months of the year, the state statistics office said on Thursday.
Foreign tourist overnights were up by 11.8% in the January-February period, the state statistics office said.
In February alone, the number of foreign tourists rose by 14% on the year. Overnights were up by 12.9% in the second month of 2016.
Foreign tourists accounted for 46% of overnight stays in February, as most – 20% of the total – came from Italy, followed by visitors from Austria with a 14% share, Croatia with 11% and Serbia with 11%.
The total number of tourists, including domestic tourists, was up 11.1% in the two month period as the total number of overnights grew by 8.1%.
In 2015, the number of tourists in Slovenia rose by 10.8% on the year to 3.8 million.
