Though it has been active in the Indian market for over four years now, Zagreb Tourism considers India a relatively new market, as far as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions/Conferences, Exhibition) Tourism is concerned. Zagreb is the capital of the European country, Croatia. “It takes time to spread awareness about our products and establish relationships in the market. The Zagreb Tourist Board and Convention Bureau has been participating in SATTE for long, and plans to do sales calls during the course of the year. We will also participate in a collective roadshow by about ten European cities, which will be organised by late April 2015, covering Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru,” revealed Zlatan Muftic, Director, Zagreb Convention Bureau.
The MICE travel figures are steadily growing from the Indian market to Zagreb, and Muftic is hopeful that in the next five to seven years, it will be better. “Even our destination is investing in infrastructural development and promotion in important feeder markets, which will take time to yield results,” he added.
Most hotels in Zagreb are in the city centre, which makes it easy for tourists to reach hotspots. Hotels in the city are available across categories. There are no direct flights from India to Zagreb, but connecting flights are offered by Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, etc.
